Wedding Cross-stitching

When my wife and I got married twenty years ago my mother-in-law made a cross stitch with our names and date of the wedding. This has been hanging in our bedroom since then.

As part of my recent training I decided to re-frame this and fix the cross stitch properly (with wadding behind it). It had been glued down straight to the backing board, but I managed to remove it. It was gently cleaned but we could not remove the marks from the glue. I then mounted the cross-stitch to some foam board with wadding to provide a cushion effect. This was then fitted using a platform mount and finished with a double mount with spacer to enhance the 3D effect.

This finished work is back on our wall, and behind UV glass to prevent any further fading of the stitching. My wife loves the new look, and it holds a special place for us having lost my mother-in-law over 12 years ago.
